Uri J Palti
Uri J Palti was born in 1939 in Ramat-Gan, Israel. At the young age of 13, he became a “Young Journalist” for Haaretz-Shelanu, a weekly youth magazine, and since then, he continues to write.
In 1975, when he was 36, Uri and his family moved to Melbourne, Australia. He began to write, produce, and broadcast in English and Hebrew on Radio 3EA/SBS one year later. At that time, he was also the journalist and stringer for the Voice of Israel in Australia and the Pacific region. Later on, he added to his broadcasts a Sunday weekly programme on Geelong’s Radio 3YYR for several years. In 1988, he founded the first radio broadcasters’ and journalists’ school at SBS Radio in Melbourne and took classes and lectured in different subjects. In 1997, he published his Hebrew book, Letters in One Direction, in Melbourne.
After more than 22 years of broadcasting, he decided to hang his microphone, but continued to write his stories. Some of the stories published in his first and second collections were broadcast on his radio programmes.
Uri has received a number of awards and prizes, among them a couple of Australia Day Media Awards, Bnai-Brith and others.
Dream Is Another Word for Hope is Uri’s first novel and fourth book.
Love and warmth can be found throughout Uri’s books and in this book in particular: you’ll hesitate, struggle, love and dream with and for Sylvester—you’d hope for him, you’d want to be with him all the way.
