T L Whitbread
Tim Whitbread was born at Vartry Bungalow in the Herefordshire village of Kingsland in 1947 where he still resides.
The son of Jane and Rex Whitbread, he is married to his wife Jocelyn who has had to put up with him since 1974. His son Nathan was tragically killed in a motor accident in 2003 aged 28.
Educated at Lucton school he developed his sporting skills competing in athletics, tennis cricket and rugby. Made the transition from rugby to football as a goalkeeper at Hereford United but did not always see eye to eye with their legendary player-manager, the great John Charles.
Working for fifty years in the plastics packaging industry concentrating when a consultant in reducing packaging and using materials that could be recycled.
Now a bit long in the tooth to stand between the sticks he spends time drinking red wine, watching sports and trying to make a few bob from his bookmaker and asking all manner of quiz questions to anyone who comes near. A lifelong Chelsea supporter he has a great fondness for Brighton as a holiday destination.
He was very proud of his mother and father, had a wonderful son and has an extremely talented wife and wishes he had met his uncle Laurie who as a spitfire pilot lost his life in the Battle of Britain.
As a septuagenarian has discovered he needs to write always using his trusty Bic biro.
