Susan Q Brown
Susan Q Brown is an American contemporary artist known for her inspired figurative or abstract work that evokes the natural landscape and human forms. While Susan works from her impressions of the natural world, she also draws upon pillars of art history, such as ancient works by Buddhist and Indian artists in the East and Western contemporary masters like Agnes Martin, Hilma af Klint and Yoko Ono. Susan uses richly layered colours, creating dimensional luminosity or flat opaqueness, often with both expressions used in the same work. An alumnus of Vermont College with a concentration in Painting, Susan spent her early years travelling in the United States of America, Mexico, The Caribbean and Europe, absorbing their cultures, painting and sailing. Since 1990, her artistic work has culminated in exhibitions in museums and galleries both indoors and out. Also, the author of the book One Heart, Four Seasons, based on Kundalini Yoga, Susan currently lives in Lyndeborough, New Hampshire along with her artist husband Aaron Brown.
