Shirley Whittaker, a new creative children’s author, was born in West London with a modest upbringing. She attended a local comprehensive girls’ school where she obtained four O-Levels. At 18, she was employed by the Civil Service for a significant number of years. After leaving the Civil Service she trained as a midwife and acquired a first-class honours degree in midwifery. She has been married for 25 years and has one son. Her hobbies include travelling, socialising, and watching sports and Korean movies.
