Born in the UK (Leicester), S. M. Braint has lived for thirty-five years in Tasmania and seventeen years in Melbourne. She considers language the defining achievement of the human race and continues to write, teach courses in literature and history and to mentor writers. Time is otherwise spent gardening, walking and reading Anglo Saxon.
