Pieter Delport grew up with a passion for languages and reading. At the age of 8, he read two youth novels a day – the second one with a torch under the blanket after the sleeping deadline. He obtained a degree in African languages, became a journalist, wrote three youth novels and numerous scripts for radio and TV. One drama series, Khayalethu, got an award for best script. His grandchild, born on his birthday, and thereafter contact with all her friends stirred a passion in him for stories for the little ones.
Rules are rules but not fun. Sometimes it is more fun to break a rule. Especially if it means that you can stay awake a little longer to do what you really want to do. Who can fall asleep anyway, with a gaming tablet calling you to come and play?...
