Michael Shew
Michael Shew was inspired to write Lessons in Lying, his first novel, after working as a head teacher in two London comprehensive schools for many years. “All of life was there,” he says, and the idea for this story began to form as he faced the daily pressures and exhilarations of being a Head. A ‘Writing Fiction’ course at Kellogg College, Oxford, motivated him to turn his plot into a novel. He loves hill-walking and travelling and is fascinated by politics. Michael now lives with his partner Francesca in Derbyshire, where he wrote this book; they have an adult daughter Tania.
