Michael Ralph Fredericks
It is 1865. John Lawson, at 16, is dying from consumption. His only remedy appears to seek an hot, dry climate. He heads on the long journey, from Liverpool, by sea, train, boat and horse, to the American South-West, following the end of the American Civil War. Along the way, he encounters many different peoples, meets several challenges and adventures, but finds his salvation, a dynasty and a legacy that lasts to this day.
