Margaret Sheila Brett
Following a general nurse qualification in 1964 at St George’s Hospital in London, Margaret Sheila Brett achieved a specialisation in Operating Department Nursing (OR). Her enthusiasm for teaching others led her into clinical and university education. Representing the UK on an informal group of European OR Nurses, she led them to European recognition. As their president, she fought for the voice of nursing within the European Union and spearheaded the development of the European Core Curriculum for OR Nursing. Her multiple presentations of papers and leading of international educational activities, plus her contributions to journals and books, produced many accolades for her professional achievements and testify to her international reputation of excellence in the field.
