Kitty Beckett
The author lives in a Shropshire hamlet surrounded by beautiful countryside with rats, mice, wasps, and very large farm machinery. She has always enjoyed the companionship of children and for some time taught in a primary school. When her three girls arrived, teaching full-time was reduced to supply teaching and private tuition. During this time, she attended Keele University, taking part in a creative writing course and a correspondence course in cartoon drawing.
In this 1980s period, a very reluctant boy pupil prompted Kitty to invent Grublin to inspire him to invent his own adventures and so this little personality came to be. Surrounded now by a large family of grandchildren, she desires more than ever to introduce them to the magical world of reading as she believes that, even in today’s media fest, there is real magic in the pages of a book. You may ask why it has taken 20 years for Grublin to arrive. Simple answer: Life, along with all those family ups and downs!
