The author lives in a Shropshire hamlet surrounded by beautiful countryside with rats, mice, wasps, and very large farm machinery. She has always enjoyed the companionship of children and for some time taught in a primary school. When her three girls arrived, teaching full-time was reduced to supply teaching and private tuition. During this time, she attended Keele University, taking part in a creative writing course and a correspondence course in cartoon drawing.

Surrounded now by a large family of grandchildren, she desires more than ever to introduce them to the magical world of reading as she believes that, even in today’s media fest, there is real magic in the pages of a book.
