Barry Sayers was born in Liverpool. As a child, he had a passion for reading books and had a particular fondness for comic poetry. After leaving school, he qualified as a plumber and worked in a variety of construction and engineering jobs. He became recognised by friends and family as an entertaining storyteller of amusing things. He began writing after becoming ill with Functional Neurological Disorder and having two daughters who both showed a passion for reading children’s books, rediscovering that passion himself.
