A. L. Walsh

A. L. Walsh has long had an interest in storytelling, in why stories are essential to humanity and why, or if, stories change depending on their timing and context. She considers the crossover between historical accounts and subjective ones as something that is particularly relevant these days.

In her academic life (previously having worked at University College Cork and at the University of Sydney), she has written three academic monographs and edited two, where she explores ideas of how the past is an essential ingredient in forming identity, whether of an individual or a country, with special reference to Spain since Spain’s contemporary fiction is her area of academic expertise.

Treasure Trove is her first novel and draws on her personal knowledge of Spain, Australia and Ireland, three countries close to her heart.
